Our Story
Barney’s has been a part of Saginaw since 1925. Originally established as Barney’s Blacksmith Shop by Bernhardt A. Neumeyer, the business has spent more than a century adapting its craft from traditional blacksmithing to the welding, repair, and fabrication work we do today. Historical records trace the shop through generations of craftsmen, including longtime owner Ernest A. “Barney” Kunitzer, who became a familiar name behind the forge. Today, we’re proud to carry that history forward. Now under the ownership of Rob Garpiel, the goal is to preserve the authenticity, craftsmanship, and reputation that have defined Barney’s for more than 100 years, while continuing to grow and serve the Saginaw community for generations to come.The forge is still burning. Same roots. Same craftsmanship. A new chapter in a century-old story. 
Our Welder
The expertise of the shop today is in the hands of Jacob Witucki. Jacob brings skill, creativity, and a genuine passion for welding and fabrication to the shop. Whether he’s working on a straightforward repair or hand-crafting a custom fabrication project, he takes pride in finding the right solution and making sure the job is done well.
As Barney’s enters its next century, Jacob plays an important role in carrying forward what this shop has always been about which is quality work, problem-solving, and artisanship you can count on.
